LIMRIDDLE ANSWER AND WINNERS

The answer to today’s Limriddle is: Trial

Battle the clock in a Tour de France ride.

The Tour de France is an annual bicycle race consisting of 21 day-long

stages covering 3,500 kilometres. Most of the stages involve mass starts,

but two or three are normally done by time trial, where riders compete one-

by-one against the clock.

Beta test needed to standards abide.

A beta test involves the trial by “real” users of machinery, software, or

other products in the final stages of development to ensure they perform as

intended and meet requisite standards required by regulation or technical

specifications.

Strive and aspire

Or falter by fire.

A trial can be a test of one’s mettle, skill or patience. A “trial by fire” means

to test one’s ability to excel under pressure or stress. The expression

comes from the medieval practice of ordeal by fire.

Jury and judge seeking justice applied.

A civil or criminal trial can be decided by a judge, or by a judge and jury

together, with the goal of rendering justice to the parties involved.

The first five to answer correctly were:

1. Michael Dibblee, Vancouver, British Columbia

2. Rosalind Mitchell, Peterborough, Ontario

3. Susan Somerville, Calgary, Alberta

4. Jeffrey Corbett, Oakville, Ontario

5. Joe Nemet, Ridgeway, Ontario
